UPDATE FROM BUTTE COUNTY – Oro Quincy Highway
Here is the latest. Butte County has retained the Civil Engineering Design firm of Quincy Engineering to analyze this roadway, determine why it failed, and how to best put it back to make sure it does not failure again during routine rainstorms. They completed the surveying last week, along with the geotechnical analysis. That information will be taken back to their lab, analyzed, and hopefully by the middle of March we will have a better idea of the scope of the proposed improvements, and a better idea of what the environmental review and construction timeline will look like.
I know it is very frustrating for everyone (County staff included) to have a 13 year old roadway fail multiple times. The original design and construction work was performed by the Federal Highways Administration, then the roadway was granted to Butte County to maintain upon the completion of the project.
We intend to fix this road correctly this time, so we do not have respective failures in the future.
